A 22-year-old policewoman from the district of Longquanyi in southwest China's Sichuan Province recently made great efforts to save a 40-year-old man's life through a three-hour talk on the phone when she was on duty at midnight.

Wei Dan said that it was the first time she had received such a call, where a man was going to attempt to commit suicide, since she started working in a 110 command center in a public security sub-bureau in the local region.

"Luckily, I did not consider it an unwanted call, for it might be the last hope for a person who was depressed," Wei revealed.

The young female police officer stated, "The middle-aged man claimed that he want to jump off a building while refusing to say his address." Upon receiving the call, Wei immediately told him to keep calm and asked what had happened to him.

After learning about the reason, the quick-witted woman tried her best to talk about issues related to her own mother with him in order to further gain his trust.

The man maintained, "My parents came from my hometown to celebrate my birthday, but my wife was not enthusiastic at all and ignored them, which made me very sad and hurt." Hence, he wanted to end his life in such an extreme method, the man explained.

Thanks to the great efforts of Wei, the man finally told her his address and was successfully saved.
