An unidentified woman has recently been widely praised for standing amid an endless stream of cars to protect a victim of a road accident in Tai'an, east China's Shandong Province.
Having witnessed a crash on May 17, the woman in black first offered to call the police and seek medical aid. When one of the drivers refused her help and left the scene, she turned to the other sitting crouched in the middle of the road.
The female rider of an electric scooter said she felt a little dizzy and had an injury to her waist.
Fearing that any improper action may cause further harm, the kind woman stood against the oncoming traffic, diverting the cars to drive past to protect the female driver behind her.
After the husband of the injured woman finally arrived, she was gently carried to the roadside, to wait for the ambulance.
When a reporter at the scene asked for the name of the woman who had offered a helping hand, she refused with a smile. "I'm late for work. I've got to go," she said.
