Seminar Held in N China to Improve Gender Equality Assessment Mechanism




A seminar on the improvement of evaluation work related to regulations and policies on gender equalitywas held in Hohhot, capital of north China's Inner Mongolia, on April 28.

The two-day event aimed to refine the evaluation mechanism for such regulations and policies in Inner Mongolia and, at the same time, enhance the awareness of gender equality among local people.

The organizer invited Ma Leijun, senior program officer of UN Women China Office; Li Mingshun, secretary of the Party committee at the China Women's University; and, law professor Ma Yinan from Peking University to give speeches on knowledge related to gender equality evaluation.

The evaluation mechanism of regulations and policies related to gender equality carried out through assessment committee and expert groups, was set up to take full consideration of gender difference and women's privilege in the legislation and execution of local rules, regulations and policies in Inner Mongolia, officials said.
