A man in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, has recently avoided a break-up of his marriage, after he came to the rescue of an injured motorcyclist on his way to the divorce registration office. His wife was so moved by his action that she withdrew her request for a separation.

When the man and his wife drove to the local civil affairs bureau to officially end their relationship on June 3, they found a motorcyclist sitting crouched on the fast lane, blood streaming out of his head. Without any hesitation, he pulled over nearby.

"What if he is a con-man? Don't get yourself into trouble," his partner warned. Nevertheless, he decided to get off to check, saying it was raining and the rider was right on a bend, highly likely to be hit again.

After learning that the individual might have suffered a fracture, the man left him where he was, fearing that any improper action may cause further harm.

While standing against the oncoming traffic to divert the cars, he called the police, the hospital and the driver's family.

Before they came to help, he kept waving his hands, gesturing the teeming vehicles to drive past without hurting the injured person.

Touched by his action, his spouse also stepped into the rain to give a hand. "Don't 'sleep,' don't 'sleep,'" she kept telling the driver, trying to keep him conscious.

When the rescue forces arrived at the scene, the couple finally retreated and got back into their car.

"Good job! I didn't recognize you're so kind. Forget about the divorce. Let's go home," the wife suddenly uttered.

"We were bickering a lot, and I asked for a divorce. But after the incident, I got to know a different side of him," she explained later.
