Interpreter Yao Mengyao has recently become a hit after working at the press conference for the annual session of China's top advisory body on March 2.

Her excellent performance and attractive appearance drew Yao much attention during the conference, sparking widespread public discussion about the young lady's background.

Yao was admitted into Beijing Foreign Studies University in 2003, and won a place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China after graduation.

Yao began working at national conferences in 2012 and was applauded by Chinese netizens as a "natural beauty."

In addition, Yao has served leaders and officials on visits to foreign countries. She interpreted for Cheng Hong, wife of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, on an official visit to Ethiopia in 2014.

Yao began her study of English through listening to English tapes in primary school. As she grew older, reading English books and watching foreign films became her favorite hobby.

Yao often engaged her teacher in English-related topics that were not limited to those in her textbooks. "They were always very professional, uncommon topics," related Ms Shen.

"To be honest, I didn't give her much help during the year and a half," said Shen. "When I took charge of her class in her second year of high school, she was actually already capable of taking the national college entrance exam."

Apart from English study, Yao actively participated in other extra-curricular activities.  She hosted multiple campus events and participated in theatrical performances. Her English monologues as the heroine in "Hamlet" caused a sensation in the school.

Despite all her extraordinary experiences and accomplishments, Yao behaves like a common woman in daily life. "She gets excited when talking about her child, and she likes posting selfies on social media," revealed her high school president.
