Go, or weiqi, hot after supercomputer's victory

Many parents still want their children to learn weiqi, the ancient Chinese board game also known as Go, despite a supercomputer's recent victory over a grandmaster of the game.

"My boy has been playing weiqi for three years and he loves it. I told him the supercomputer was created by humans. Science and technology will make us smarter."

Shao Jin, human resources manager in Dalian, Liaoning province

"My son is learning to play weiqi. I want him to nurture an interest. I don't think the development of artificial intelligence will kill people's interest in the game."

Zhang Fuxia, manager at a foreign company in Nantong, Jiangsu province

"My daughter was restless and couldn't stay focused, so I signed her up for weiqi lessons a year ago. As long as children are interested in the subject, we should encourage them to try it out."

Chen Caiyun, homemaker in Cangzhou, Hebei province
