A twin brother and sister from Beijing have both received offers from the University of Oxford, and will enter the prestigious institution later this year.

Chen Zhaomeng and Chen Qizhao will attend Exeter College and Queen's College, respectively.

As mathematics specialists, both the brother and his younger sister have collected dozens of prizes in municipal-level, national and international contests.

"There's a lot of fun in studying maths," said the brother, Zhaomeng.

The sister, Qizhao, revealed that their parents fully support their decision and encourage their interests, but never interfere in what they do.

Under the guidance of their father, the siblings have developed good learning habits. They only take time out after they have finished their homework; they regularly visit museums and science parks; and, they read extensively.

Apart from persistent learning and participation in various competitions, the two youngsters have also been involved in multiple training programs in fields such as microbiology and architecture, winning personal instruction from leading experts in the country.

Both passed the written exam and interviews set by Oxford last year. The brother was high praised by a professor at the university in a letter; and, the sister stood out among many competitors to win the Jardines Scholarship, granted to no more than 10 students in Asia each year.

In addition to their remarkable performance and academic achievements, Zhaomeng is said to be a master at computer games, table tennis and badminton; and, Qizhao has demonstrated outstanding abilities in English and singing.
