Yang Bing, whose English name is Erika Pioch, a Chinese-American girl who was adopted and brought to the U.S. 16 years ago, recently returned to China, hoping to find her biological parents.

After arriving in Changsha, capital of her native Hunan Province on March 28, Yang planned to head for Hengyang, the city where she was born, the next day, along with her adoptive mother.

Yang was born on October 25, 1999 and abandoned at the gate of the local social welfare center on December 13 the same year.

As no clues about her identity could be found, she was taken care of at the welfare institution until she was adopted by an American family at nine months old.

Yang said that she lives a happy life in Indiana, U.S., along with her South American younger sister, who was also adopted.

When she began remembering things about her early life, her foster mother told her about her adoption. As she grows older, the idea of looking for her biological parents gets stronger. "I want to know more possible information about them," she said.

When she confided her plan to her adoptive mother last year, the parent agreed without any hesitation and showed her full support.

Yang did not blame her birth parents for what they have done, she said. She believed that they must have encountered some problem that forced them to abandon her; and they still wanted her to live well by placing her near the welfare center.

However, she has got no information except for a birthmark on her left arm that may lead her to her own mom and dad.

"I would feel sad if I can't find them this time, but I will continue to look for them back in the U.S.," Yang said.
