This week's Communal Camera features the work of Dominika Wenz. Dominika is a Polish-born, Bristol-based photographer and model, who travelled to Shanghai to capture images of people close-up.
Dominika: "I was born in Poland and came to visit Shanghai last year. I was always fascinated by the Culture of China. I was amazed how beautiful and interesting Shanghai is. Discovering streets of Shanghai I have found soo many wonderful faces to photograph, China Beauties, people with stories and character. Through my photography, I like to show human emotions and inner character. That's what it shows in my empathetic photographs of people, young and old and from all walks of life. I aim to capture the natural emotions of my subjects and to reveal the stories behind the faces – to gain insight.
I seek out subjects of character and depth. Shanghai is a wonderful place to find all of that! Visiting that place made me realy happy and I just love the atmosphere of that incredibly wonderful, friendly and beautiful city. Every street speaks a different story. Also for me, taking photographs is a source of happiness. I seek to share my enjoyment and to make others happy through my photography - to make the best of the human condition.
I definitely gonna go back for more of my photography adventure to Shanghai. It's like a neverending trip."
