Chinese e-commerce supplier Suning Tesco is hiring foreigners to work as couriers during the Spring Festival to ensure efficient express delivery services and cover staff shortages at this busy time.

He Wenxu, 33, a British man who works for a magazine in the capital, joined the trend and hopes to experience the life of a Chinese delivery driver.

Before taking up his tasks, He was assigned to learn some skills, such as daily routines and etiquette during the most important festival for Chinese people.

Having majored in Orientalism and mastered good Chinese, He still got confused by some trivial things. "I thought it was merely delivering goods," he said. "I never expected to go through so many procedures as receiving parcels, sorting and contacting customers."

It is sometimes hard to spot the right address and find customers in the city full of high-rise buildings. Luckily, He soon finished his tasks with the help of his fellow Chinese co-workers.

"Being a courier is a hard job, but quite interesting," He said. "I can come across different people and different things every day."
