Zhang Chunling, a physically impaired woman who saved three people during the devastatingearthquake in Sichuan, southwest China, has recently been hospitalized due to complications frompregnancy, facing uncertainties over her future.

"I'm not sure how long I have to go with blood transfusion. Hopefully, I can pull through," she wrote on her social media account.

Zhang is now in urgent need of blood type B to maintain her condition, according to Lin Hao, a youngster who rose to fame after his own rescue efforts in the Sichuan quake.

Zhang was seriously disfigured in an accident at 3, with her left arm amputated and her fingers on the right side partially lost.

When the buildings began shaking violently on May 12, 2008, Zhang quickly ran out of her school dormitory on the ground floor. However, the cries behind her soon made her rush back inside. She successfully rescued a little boy along with two of her classmates.

Her heroic act was widely covered by media outlets and she was honored as a national level youth hero of the earthquake relief efforts.
