A young Chinese girl, who lost both her legs in the 2008 Sichuan earthquake (also known as Wenchuan earthquake), recently received a letter of admission from the Royal Canadian Air Force School (RCAFS).

Huang Meihua, a senior at the international senior high division of Guangya School, based in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, has performed well in her studies since she was sponsored to attend classes in 2009.

"I was pulled out of quake ruins and then sent to seek urgent medical treatment at hospital by helicopter," said Huang. "I'm excited to get an opportunity of learning to fly in Canada. After I get a pilotlicense, I will become a flight volunteer to join in with air rescues."

Huang got the admission letter from the RCAFS operation director James Wu and coach Christopher on December 15 while the two worked on cooperation with the local Guangya air force school in Sichuan.

"Hopefully, Huang will continue to take positive attitude toward life and her story will motivate more young people to be tough," said Wu.

It is reported that the RCAFS will sponsor Huang's tuition fees and her board and lodging expenses in Canada, whilst Guangya School will undertake her round-trip ticket to Vancouver.
